Recent updates to SCHEDA, newest first.
July 10, 2026 · 4:00 PM PT
- Stewards can now copy jobs from a previous event — one click brings over your job definitions (and their departments) so recurring events set up in minutes.
- The volunteer admin panel speaks steward now: Jobs and Schedule replace “Shift Titles” and “Coverage,” and the tabs follow the order you actually work in.
- A new setup checklist at the top of the panel shows what’s done and what’s next — event days, jobs, schedule, shifts — and each step is tappable.
- After saving a new job, SCHEDA offers to schedule it right away — no more hunting for the next step. You can also add a new department without leaving the job form.
- Shifts can now be as short as 15 minutes, and slot length is set when you schedule — so the same job can run 2-hour shifts by day and 1-hour shifts at night.
- Volunteers can now update their group hour credit anytime from Edit Profile — not just at signup.
- Seated, on-my-feet, and heavy-lifting are now one-tap choices for both stewards (on jobs) and volunteers (in Edit Profile), so the catalog’s quick filters and “For You” picks match much more reliably.
- Fixed: editing your profile no longer quietly erases your saved availability, warrants, and work preferences.

- The volunteer page has a fresh look — a new green and gold palette — and a simpler menu: SCHEDA Catalog, My Schedule, Volunteer, and FAQ.
- Returning volunteers land on their event instantly, with a proper loading screen instead of a blank page.
- My Shifts now features the Volunteer Banner Leaderboard, and raffle tickets count only shifts you’ve been credited for. Lifetime hours are retired.
- You can now print a service-hours record of your credited shifts, with a steward signature line.
- Shifts with an age requirement are now clearly gated in the catalog, so young volunteers see what they can claim before tapping.
- Edit Profile now includes your birthday and a PIN-verified parent link. If a young volunteer signed up before today, please re-add the parent email there — earlier signups didn’t save it.
- Parents get a new Your Volunteers view showing their linked kids’ shifts, and can drop a shift that hasn’t started yet.
- Parents now get an email when their child’s shift is cancelled or completed, and volunteers get one when a steward reschedules a claimed shift.
- The daily reminder email now shows volunteer shifts alongside classes in one timeline, reaches volunteers who aren’t registered for classes, and suggests up to three open shifts picked for you.
- Volunteer and parent emails now link straight into the volunteer page with your event ready to go.
- Teachers: encore requests and wishlist-heart milestones now actually send you an email — these notifications had been silently broken.
- Fixed: creating a volunteer profile when no event was active looked successful but never saved — it saves now.
- Fixed: the Open Shifts / My Shifts tabs were white-on-white and nearly invisible — they’re readable now.
- Fixed: day-before reminder emails now send properly when your schedule includes a volunteer shift — previously a shift in the summary could stop those emails from going out.
- Wishlist hearts now count once per person — repeat clicks from the same email no longer inflate a request’s count.
- Volunteer shift pages and steward rosters now load faster at large events with many shifts.
- Stewards: the volunteer admin panel now lives in the volunteer app itself — one unlock works across both apps, and the classes steward panel links you over.
- Stewards: fixed the volunteer enable toggle not sticking for events that had been turned off before.
- Stewards: department cover-image uploads now work — they had been silently failing.
- Stewards: rejecting a standalone or online class proposal now sticks — previously it could quietly reappear in the pending queue.
- Stewards: event and group names containing an apostrophe no longer break the room editor or the Remove Group button.

- The class catalog and volunteer shift pages load dramatically faster — listings now come from a snapshot that refreshes every few minutes, so brand-new classes or shifts may take a moment to appear.
- Fixed: returning volunteers were missing the event info card (dates, times, and address) at the top of the shift page — it’s back for everyone.
- My Schedule lookups are snappier, and stay snappy as more events are added.
- Class cards without a photo now show the full topic name instead of a single letter.
- The “Show past events” toggle on the catalog responds instantly.
- Fixed: the teacher directory’s event filter could list sample events instead of real ones.

- Teachers can now edit an approved class from My Schedule — edits go back to steward review, and students already registered keep their spots.
- My Schedule now shows your pending submissions with a “Pending review” badge, so nothing silently disappears after you submit or edit.
- My Schedule search and event filters now apply to volunteer shifts too, not just classes.
- Stewards: the approval details popup now focuses on reviewing and adjusting class info — scheduling stays on the main page where it belongs.
- Stewards: approving multiple classes at once now shows a full-screen loading indicator so you know it’s working.
- Stewards: switching between admin tabs is faster — fewer redundant data loads and the event selector no longer resets when you move between tabs.
- A hidden spam trap now quietly blocks bot submissions on the class form.
July 6, 2026 · 8:30 AM PT
- Stewards: Approving classes is faster — pick date, time, and room right on the pending card, no popup needed.
- Stewards: New “Suggest times” button on pending classes shows up to 5 open room/time slots based on the teacher’s preference and the event’s current schedule.
- Stewards: Checkboxes let you approve up to 10 pending classes at once with Save All — conflicts get caught before anything saves.
- Stewards: The Classes tab now defaults to standalone and online classes, with a pending-count pill per event to jump straight to that event’s queue.
- Stewards: Fixed the Edit button not working on approved classes in events that aren’t published yet.
- My Schedule now remembers the email you looked up, so refreshing the page won’t lose your view.
- Teachers can now see whether a submitted class is still pending or wasn’t accepted, right in their teaching history.
- The teach-a-class form now warns you before leaving if you have unsaved changes.
- The “what to bring” field nudges longer lists toward the class description instead.
July 5, 2026 · 4:45 PM PT
- Volunteers under 18 can now sign up! The sign-up form asks for a birthday and a parent or guardian's volunteer email and PIN — the parent gets an email whenever their child claims or drops a shift.
- Young volunteers automatically see only the shifts they're old enough for, so finding where you can help is easy at any age.
- The preferences step now asks what kind of work suits you (seated, on your feet, heavy lifting) and which warrants you hold — For You suggestions use both.
- New Seated and On My Feet filters on the shift catalog, and shifts needing a warrant now say so right on the card — including a badge when it's one you hold.
- Fixed: volunteer shift emails (claim confirmations, cancellations, and vouch receipts) weren’t actually sending — they do now.
July 5, 2026 · 12:35 PM PT
- All printables now share consistent SCHEDA branding, and every one is clearly labeled (Class Roster, Master Schedule, Master Grid, and so on).
- QR check-in signs now show their print date, and the Master Schedule includes a small legend explaining its tags.
- New: an FAQ & Help page answering common questions about classes, volunteering, PINs, and QR check-in — linked from the welcome banner, My Schedule, and the volunteer page.
- Need a hand? A support form on the FAQ page sends your question straight to us — we’ll reply by email.
- Vouching for a fellow volunteer is simpler: they enter just their PIN, no email needed.
- The class and volunteer catalogs now appear instantly on return visits, refreshing quietly in the background.
- Event dropdowns across the site now list the soonest event first.
- Stewards: a new Print QR Signs button prints a ready-to-post check-in sign for every volunteer area, with the QR code and simple instructions.
- Stewards: Reports now has Classes and Volunteers tabs, and the Insights section moved to the bottom of the steward menu.
- Stewards: a new Group Hours report shows how credited volunteer hours are shared out to each volunteer’s chosen groups — with per-group totals, a volunteer breakdown, and CSV export.
